TINUTUAN: Bubur Manado

One of Indonesian’s dishes which is so tasty and healthy. This highly nutritious porridge is quite easy  to make. This is how:



  • Water (of course :D)
  • 1 cup of rice
  • a bunch of Kangkung (Its kinda water spinach, long leaves)
  • a bunch Daun Gedi (Hibiscus manihot Leaves, it’s rare leaves. You can leave it)
  • a bunch of spinach
  • 300 grams of pumpkin (mashed pumpkin)
  • 300 gram of sweet potatoes (cut in pieces)
  • 5 cobs of corn (loosen into kernels)
  • 2 pieces of Serai (lemongrass or citronella, cut into ±5 cm in length then crack it)
  • 2 stalks of Kemangi (basil leaves)
  • Salt and little of sugar

How To Make:

  • Wash rice then pour the drained rice into a large metal vessel or cauldron with water
  • Wash all vegetables and dry
  • Cook the rice and corn until almost become porridge. Keep stirring
  • Enter pumpkin and sweet potatoes. Go on stirring
  • Enter water spinach, hibiscus, spinach, lemongrass and basil. Don’t stop stirring
  • Add salt and sugar. Stir again
  • Stir until all ingredients are cooked well and thick.Serve the porridge with fried salty fish and sambal dabu-dabu (manado’s special chili sauce)
